Sadly enough, sometimes it happens the sperm get blocked from entering the semen (obstructive) OR there is no mature sperm at all (secretory). In medical eyes, it’s “azoospermia” and in patient’s – “infertility” and further IVF treatment.
The condition may be caused by vasectomy, hormone problems, cancer treatments, certain genetic conditions, and others.
Anyways, decades earlier, this diagnosis meant using donor sperm with treatments and abandoning the genetic link to a future baby forever. Nowadays, using TESA (testicular sperm aspiration) is enough to get own sperm for the procedure. Moreover, even immature forms of sperm obtained can lead to a successful IVF pregnancy. No pain, no risks – the procedure is quick and effective.
Having already had a wide experience in male fertility treatment, the Ukrainian ICSI Clinic is ready to eliminate this obstacle and lead the couple to a successful pregnancy. It was in the year 2000 when ICSI Clinic specialists – the embryologist M. Kononenko and gynecologist A. Darii – completed the first successful IVF ICSI program using sperm obtained through TESA, resulting in a healthy newborn. And now, by the year 2021, HUNDREDS of IVF babies have been born to men with azoospermia, proving the diagnosis does not mean infertility anymore.
