Cryo-programs in Ukraine

Foreign clients undergoing infertility treatment and participating in IVF programs in Ukraine at the ICSI Clinic can take advantage of cryopreservation services. This saves both time and money.

Women who plan to become pregnant at a more mature age and wish to preserve high-quality genetic material for future use can freeze their eggs (the quality of oocytes decreases after age 35). If an IVF program with stimulation is conducted, some of the oocytes obtained from superovulation can also be frozen for future IVF attempts. This can reduce the duration of stay in Ukraine during subsequent attempts and lower the cost of the program.

After undergoing examinations, a man whose spouse is planning IVF at the ICSI Clinic can provide sperm, which will be frozen and stored in a cryobank. This sperm can later be thawed and used for:

• In vitro fertilization (IVF) of the wife’s or donor’s egg;
• Intrauterine insemination (IUI).

This is convenient if, after examination, the woman needs to undergo treatment, ovarian stimulation, or other preparations, and the man is unable to visit the clinic again on the day of the IVF or IUI procedure to provide fresh sperm.

Embryo freezing is performed after IVF and the cultivation of the obtained embryos to the blastocyst stage. Before freezing, a trophectoderm biopsy is usually conducted for preimplantation genetic testing. This program allows:

• In cases where more than 1-2 embryos are obtained during IVF, a reserve can be created for future attempts;
• Choosing a more favorable time for embryo transfer (if there is a risk of ovarian hyperstimulation or other factors that may hinder successful implantation);
• Increasing the chances of a successful pregnancy and the birth of a healthy child by conducting PGT (preimplantation genetic testing) and transferring only tested embryos to the uterus;
• Providing the opportunity for deferred motherhood in the future.

Cryo-transfer is a type of embryo transfer, specifically the transfer of an embryo that has been thawed after cryopreservation. In IVF programs, it is usually performed 1-2 months after cryopreservation, but it can also be carried out at a later time. Cryo-transfer can be conducted during a natural menstrual cycle, a stimulated menstrual cycle, or a cycle controlled by hormone replacement therapy.

Statistics gathered over the years at ICSI Clinic confirm that IVF or IUI programs using cryoprotocols are just as effective as programs using “fresh” genetic material or embryos. Thanks to the use of the most advanced cryopreservation technologies, the maximum preservation of the properties of reproductive cells and embryos is ensured after thawing.
